Tim van Cromvoirt (1988) graduated in 2011 at the AKV| St.Joost academy in Art & Technology.
For his graduation project ‘Thermophores’ he received the St.Joost penning for best graduation project and earned a place in the prestigious HOT100 (the 100 best alumni in the arts, media and technology) His work which is set in the increasingly important field of art and science, is seen by the jury as intriguing and mysterious, technically complex, but most of all enchanting.
Influenced by a fascination for biology and living organisms he uses technology to breath life into his artificial organisms. His work doesn’t represent super-realistic -true to nature- objects but rather an impression of a living being which is reflected back in his recent work Lungplant.
Lungplant was featured on different exhibitions after it’s release in 2013 among others; Dutch technology week (Amsterdam), Discovery festival (Eindhoven) and Re-New digital art conference (Copenhagen).
Last year Tim spoke on a TedX conference about his work which can be seen on this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vpQRUe3uHow
